Tadpoles Rescued

This year, with supporters like you, A Frog House created three new vernal ponds, planted a Tiny Food Forest at the Pittsford Village Arboretum, and rescued countless tadpoles. We planted trees, removed invasive species, and welcomed hundreds of visitors to our Erie Canal property for hands-on environmental education.

But here's the beautiful truth: when we protect frogs and their wetland homes, we protect clean water, healthy air, and thriving ecosystems for everyone. Frogs are nature's early warning system—what's good for the frog is good for us.

Why Frogs? Because They're Our Canaries in the Coal Mine

Ghana Night Spirit Frog close-up

Frogs breathe through their skin, making them incredibly sensitive to pollutants in our air and water. When frog populations decline, it's an early warning that our environment is in trouble.

When frog populations thrive, it means our wetlands are healthy, our water is clean, and our ecosystems are balanced.

By protecting frogs, we're protecting ourselves.

Frog Facts

  • 🐸 Frogs eat mosquitoes and other pests
  • 💧 Healthy frog populations = clean water
  • 🌱 Wetlands filter pollution and prevent flooding
  • 🌍 1/3 of all amphibian species are threatened
  • 💚 What's good for the frog is good for us

What Your Gift Will Create in 2026

Next year, we're launching Build-Your-Own Backyard Vernal Pond Kits—empowering families and youth across our region to create frog habitats right in their own yards.

We're expanding our wetland restoration work, hosting expert workshops with renowned wetland specialist Tom Biebighauser, and continuing our free educational programs for schools and community groups.

Your Giving Tuesday donation makes all of this possible.
